Being straightforward, honest, and blunt can be okay to some degree, but be careful not to cross the line….
Yes, we have our similarities, but Chinese is not “basically the same thing” as Vietnamese. Vietnamese is not “basically the same thing” as Korean. Or Japanese. Or Taiwanese, etc. I think there are a lot of differences between these ethnicities. Why does India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, etc, keep getting kicked out of Asia? Did they forget to pai their dues? What? To @changelingintransit: apologies!! This is because this post was from my own personal experiences, and I am Chinese and have been mistaken for some of the ones I’ve listed. I didn’t mean to leave them out! So sorry!

Explanation: Just because someone is watching their food choices/sticking to healthier foods doesn’t necessarily mean that their aim is to lose weight.
I had a friend who had a Chinese accent when she spoke English, and people would speak to her really slowly because they thought she couldn’t understand them, but she had perfectly good English :)
